Monday Mojo – Catch Your Breath

When was the last time you stopped?

I don’t mean at a traffic light, or to go to bed. I mean genuinely just downed tools and took a moment to take it all in.

When we lead busy lives the emphasis is always on doing not being. It’s one of the reasons I describe in my classes how we’ve become human doings, instead of human beings.

It’s in our nature to evolve and grow developmentally; to get “better” at doing things faster and easier.

But the challenge comes when we have got so used to multi-tasking, that nothing gets 100% of our time and energy. We divide our attention between everyone and everything. And the  busier we become, the less effective we are in how we spend our time, and ultimately our decision making. (No one makes good decisions when they’re stressed.)  It’s why it’s so important to take a moment for yourself.

This week, set the intention to Catch Your Breath.  Take some time to just sit and be, even if only a few minutes. Step back from the chaos or drama that might be encircling you right now, and bring your awareness fully to your breath, noticing how the air is flowing through your body; sink in to its natural rhythm. The breath doesn’t breathe into the past, or future, and you don’t have to either. Remember, it’s always now.
