Monday Mojo – Eat the Cake (metaphorically speaking)

Monday Mojo – feel-good motivation for the week ahead: Eat the Cake

Now, before you tell me that in a world where we are under pressure to eat healthily all the time, and that cake is absolutely off the agenda, let me explain that in this instance the cake can be taken literally or metaphorically. The metaphor here is for whatever it is you’ve been craving, agonising over or just generally can’t stop thinking about but for whatever reason you’re not doing it.

We all have something that brings us joy. And, from time to time, we all find ourselves disconnecting from that because we’re too busy or talking ourselves out of it, because we don’t feel ‘worthy’.

Sometimes we can stay too focused just on the short-term pleasures, but it is also essential to enjoy life in the here and now.  Besides, everything in moderation.

This week, set the intention to Eat the Cake. Give time and attention to something that brings you happiness, something you’ve been putting off, or that slice of something you keep coming back to but telling yourself you don’t deserve.  You can make a long-term plan for happiness too, but don’t lose sight of the pleasures in every moment.  If there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing, but have talked yourself out of it, talk it over with a friend to see if your reasons hold water or there is another way.
