Monday Mojo – feel-good motivation for the week ahead: Know Your People
Are you more comfortable on your own, or do you flourish in a crowd?
Everyone is different, and whichever you prefer there is a benefit to both. We know that time spent on our own can be good for us. The saying goes that if you love your own company, you’ll never be alone.
But according to the Campaign to End Loneliness, being on your own (and not by choice) is more damaging to your health than smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Even though we live in a modern world, we are still tribal people at heart.
This week, set the intention to Know Your People. It’s okay now and then to reflect on your social circles and friendship groups. Do the people around you nurture and support you? Do they bring out the best in you? When you say you’re having a bad day do they make time for you (and preferably bring chocolate)? Knowing what you need from your people is important. Not in a diva way, but to know that when the chips are down they will come through. And, if you decide that some people are not your people, don’t be afraid to make positive space for new ones.
