Monday Mojo – Speak Your Truth

Monday Mojo – feel-good motivation for the week ahead: Speak Your Truth

Are you feeling heard?

The third Monday in January is (usually) known as Blue Monday, the one day in the year when people feel at their lowest.  Scientists reckon they’ve worked this out using a mathematical formula – of course, the reality is you can feel low at any time.

But whether Blue Monday is an actual thing or not, there are definitely times when it feels like no one’s listening.  People have their heads in their phones.  Their minds are elsewhere.  And sometimes, well, we just don’t have the energy or the confidence to say anything.

It’s difficult at the best of times to talk about how we feel, who we are and what we bring to the party of life, but especially when we feel silenced or ignored.

Speaking your truth doesn’t mean raising your voice, or being loud, standing on a soapbox or reaching for a microphone (although you can if you want, obvs).  It also doesn’t mean you have to say anything before you’re ready.

What it does mean is recognising you have a right to say whatever it is you want to say.

This week, set the intention to Speak Your Truth.  Have a think about what it would be like to say that thing, the one that’s in the back of your mind right now, waiting to be said.  For all those times you’ve walked out of a room and thought “I should have said that”, imagine what it would be like to feel empowered today to say what you mean, and mean what you say.  If you have something to say to someone in particular, practice saying it in front of the mirror, or with a close friend.  If it’s a generic message that could benefit the world at large, start a blog, create some art or find a way to pass on your words to the people who need to hear it.  You don’t have to say it today, but if confidence is holding you back, talk it through with someone who can help.
